Tribute to my Mom on Mother's Day Weekend

My Mom is my best friend. Anyone who knows me knows that she has always been my best friend. Now that I am a mother I appreciate her even more. She is the best grandma (Nana) in the world to my daughter Hailey. She takes such good care of her and with me working part time Hailey spends a lot of time with her Nana - whom she loves dearly. My Mom is always teaching her new things - just like she did me. She has instilled in Hailey a love of reading - just like she did me. Even when Mom is hurting and you know she's in pain - she never shows it or complains about it. I don't know what I would do without my Mom. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in our daily lives that we forget to thank our Mom's for all they do - for all of the little things they do as well. I guess that's why I am thankful we have Mother's Day once a year - to make us stop and be thankful for these things. My Mom is truly a gift to me and my family! Thanks Mom for being you!

These pictures were taken last weekend when we had an "early" mothers day celebration with my Mom, Steve and my brother Bill & his family. We had a fun day together - eating lunch, watching the Jazz game and playing a the Dino-mine Park (Good job Nana! - as Hailey said when my Mom was swinging). WE LOVE YOU NANA!!!!!

New addition to the family.......

What did you think I meant? You know I'm getting to old to mean that!!!! For those of you who know my heartbreaking "giving the cat away" story from a couple of weeks ago....you'll appreciate the fact that we now have 6 new animals in our house!!!! My husband - who is a city boy until 3 years ago - and wants to be farm boy at heart - finally got something for his big yard - and Hailey was pretty excited! So excited that the morning after we got them I woke up later than normal and panicked a bit because Hailey hadn't come in to wake us up. When I went downstairs - she was asleep next to the chicks with her Dora blanket. Of course I didn't have the camera with me or that would have been a priceless pictures of her with her asleep with her face pressed up against the tote the chicks were in.

Hailey learning to ride her bike

This bike of Hailey's has been downstairs for quite awhile - and last week we decided to bring it outside for her to try and ride. Even though she's quite tall - she still had a hard time reaching the pedals - so Dad tried to lower the seat and the handle bars - still didn't quite work. But she had a good time walking with her feet (with no shoes on) up & down the sidewalk. We're so glad it's nice weather and we can go outside & play! Now we just need to get her a helmet that actually FITS her head! She is so much fun - and she just cracks us up all the time with the things that she comes up with!
